Bird removes scooters from Louisville's streets less than a week after launch
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Less than a week after their launch, bird scooters have flown the coop in Louisville.
Starting Thursday, Bird scooters could be spotted downtown, in NuLu and the highlands. Bird is a last mile scooter rental service, designed for trips that are too long to walk but too short to drive. Each scooter has a base fee of $1 and 15 additional cents per minute.
A Bird spokesperson said "We voluntarily removed scooters from the streets." The company expects Bird scooters to be back as early as this week.
A statement from the city says, in part: "Bird and the city are working towards an agreement" and "we continue our discussions to make the use of Bird scooters safe for all our residents."
