Rand Paul said he asked President Trump to remove several security clearances
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- President Donald Trump is considering stripping the security clearances for some members of previous administrations who continue to get top secret info.
Kentucky U.S. Senator Rand Paul made the suggestion.
Paul said Monday he asked Trump to revoke former CIA director John Brennan's security clearance, in particular, after Brennan criticized Trump's performance at the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Heksinki.
Brennan called it "nothing short of treasonous."
"I think there's a great danger of talking heads on TV, who are ex-CIA agents and still have classified clearance, there's a real danger that they may inadvertently reveal classified information. And John Brennan has a history of this," Paul said.
The White House said Trump is also considering revoking not just Brennan's, but the clearances of several former top intelligence officials.
