LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Homicide detectives are investigating after a man was found shot to death in the Park Hill neighborhood early Wednesday.

LMPD detectives are trying to figure out who shot and killed the man, who was found around 7 a.m. on July 25 between two homes on Standard Avenue, which is near the intersection of Dixie Highway and West Hill Street.

The neighborhood is no stranger to crime -- there are several memorial sites from previous murders near the crime scene.

Investigators say the victim was shot, but could not say when the shooting happened. Neighbors say they heard loud gunshots around 3:30 a.m.

There are no suspects at this time, and LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell urged anyone who may have saw anything to come forward.

"Anyone that has even an ounce of information -- even what you think may not be relevant -- may be very relevant to find the person or persons that may be responsible for this horrific situation that’s happened," Mitchell said. "Again, this is a terrible loss of life.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the LMPD crime tipline at 574-LMPD. Callers can remain anonymous.
