LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The community stepped up during the WDRB in the Morning Back to School Bash.

Morning feature reporter Keith Kaiser hosted the first ever event in front of WDRB Media Wednesday morning. People were invited to drop off school supplies for students and teachers for the upcoming school year.

Generous viewers filled up the backseat and trunk of a WDRB News car with folders, pencils, backpacks, lunch boxes, pens, glue and more.

David Mattingly from Talecris Plasma Resources said his company was glad to help. "Our employees chipped in and tried to get a few things. We went shopping and brought in as much as we could," he said.

If you weren't able to stop by Wednesday, you will get another chance to contribute during the Kentucky State Fair. Just look for the WDRB booth in the South Wing of the Kentucky Exposition Center.
