NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WDRB) -- Twelve New Albany-Floyd County school buses have seat belts onboard this year.

Nora Couch, who's about to begin her third year driving a bus for the district, hopes the seat belts will help with discipline issues on the bus.

"I will not have to worry so much about arms out the window, objects going out the window," Couch said. "I can concentrate on mirrors, other drivers and getting them where they're supposed to be."

Elizabeth Herbert's son Ian will be buckling up for the first time.

"He's used to the harness car seat, so he doesn't do his own seat belt," Herbert said. "It was a little hard for him to do it, but I think he'll get the hang of it pretty quick."
