LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Brandenburg man was arrested Thursday evening after police say he was caught shooting videos of customers in the men's restroom at an Elizabethtown Walmart without their knowledge.

According to an arrest report, officers were called to the Walmart at 100 Walmart Drive in Elizabethtown, just after 8:30 p.m.

When officers arrived, store management told them that a man had been in the furthest stall of the men's room for "several hours" and was still there. According to the arrest report, he was discovered by a store employee who was a juvenile, who saw him pointing his phone over the top of the stall "as if filming."

Police say they took a statement from the juvenile victim.

Police eventually confronted the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Matthew Spilman. When they asked him why he had been in the restroom so long, he allegedly told them that he had been talking to friends.

Police then asked him why he had been shooting video of other people in the stalls. According to the arrest report, he didn't answer the question and started looking at his phone.

At that point, police say Spilman began trying to delete images and videos on his phone, "that appeared to be taken in the bathroom." As a result, police say they seized the phone in order to obtain a search warrant and collect evidence later.

Police say Spilman ultimately admitted that he had been shooting video of other men in the restroom "for pleasure purposes" -- and that he'd been there since 3:30 p.m. He also allegedly admitted to shooting video at other locations in the Elizabethtown area about a month ago.

Spilman was arrested and charged with one count of voyeurism and one count of tampering with physical evidence. He is currently being held in the Hardin County Detention Center.
