LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A celebration of change and community in Louisville's west end.

The Carl Braden Memorial Center held a community celebration Sunday afternoon on West Broadway.

Civil rights activist Anne Braden and her husband started a movement aimed at pursuing and protecting justice for everyone in Louisville.

Saturday would have been Braden's 96th birthday.

The center showcases the importance the importance of fighting for human and civil rights while encouraging others to do the same.

"We are open to other justice and civic minded organizations for meeting, collaboration ... that sort of thing, so it's a home. It's a home for folks who want to make things better," Martina Kunneke, with the Braden Center, said.

The center still requires some maintenance and upkeep, but has been in the Louisville community for more than 40 years.
