LA GRANGE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Tips from social media are credited with tracking down a burglar that targeted insurance agencies.

Oldham County Police said in a news release that 50-year-old Robert E. Weathers of Crestwood was identified from surveillance video posted on the agency's Facebook page. Weathers faces a third degree burglary charge.

Law enforcement in Shelby County also helped identify Weathers as the so-called "insurance burglar," who was a suspect in more than 30 burglaries between 2003 and 2010.

The original post on social media shows a Ring.com surveillance video of a man in Crestwood Agency - Insurance. It said police were looking for a suspect in four burglaries at insurance agencies in Crestwood. The man would disconnect power and phone lines before entering the buildings.

Jenny Noe, the owner of the Crestwood Agency - Insurance said the Ring.com surveillance camera was purchased after the business was first broken into and a TV in a back office was stolen. About a week later, another TV was stolen.

Maj. Neil Johnson with Oldham County Police said at each insurance agency, Weathers is after their TVs.

"As of right now, we have not located any of the TVs, so we don't know what he's been doing with them," Johnson said.

Johnson said Weathers is experienced. He came prepared with a face-covering, gloves and tools.

And now the Crestwood insurance agency is prepared in their own way with an additional camera installed outside.

"I definitely feel safer having that here, especially when I'm not here," Noe said. "It gives you a little more ease."

Weathers is being held in the Oldham County Jail.
