Radcliff couple arrested after toddler found in home with dog waste and trash
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Radcliff couple was arrested Sunday evening after police say a 1-month-old child was found in a home surrounded by dog waste and trash.
According to an arrest report, officers were called to the home in the 500 block of Millcreek Road, just off of South Dixie Boulevard, just after 5 p.m. Police say they'd received a report that 21-year-old Clarissa Padgett -- who was wanted for failing to appear in court on previous charges -- was in the home.
When officers arrived, they found Padgett, along with her boyfriend, 23-year-old Jeffery McCord, living in the home.
Police say the couple's 1-month-old was also in the home, living in "unsuitable" conditions.
"The child was surrounded by dog waste and urine, moldy food and various other trash to the point that a foot could not be set down without stepping on something underfoot," an arrest report states.
Police say the baby was in a bouncer that was "less than a foot off the floor."
Additionally, the child was in the same room as a dog that police say Padgett herself described as "vicious."
Child Protective Services took custody of the baby.
Both Padgett and McCord were arrested by Radcliff Police and charged with second-degree wanton endangerment. McCord is also charged with hindering prosecution or apprehension.
They are currently being held in the Hardin County Detention Center.
