Damaged sprinkler head leads to closure of Floyds Knobs day care
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Floyds Knobs day care was closed Monday morning after a damaged sprinkler head led to flooding inside the center.
According to a news release from the Lafayette Township Fire Protection District, firefighters were sent to Miracle Zone Daycare just before 7:30 a.m. after an alarm was triggered, signaling that the sprinkler system had been activated.
When firefighters arrived, they discovered that a first-floor sprinkler head had been damaged accidentally, causing water to flow from the sprinkler system.
"The sprinkler system was shut down, but not before hundreds of gallons of water flooded the business," the news release states.
Crews swept away debris and cleaned up damaged ceiling tiles.
Firefighters say no injuries occurred, but the large amount of water left a few people "soggy."
The day care closed for the day. It's not clear when it will re-open.
In addition to the Lafayette Township Fire Protection District, other departments responded, including the Georgetown Township Fire Protection District, the Greenville Volunteer Fire Department, the New Chapel EMS and the New Chapel Fire Company.
