LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville's professional soccer club now has a new head coach.

On Thursday morning, Louisville City FC announced that 48-year-old John Hackworth has been appointed head coach of the team. According to a news release, Hackworth signed a contract through 2022.

"I am honored and humbled but mostly just excited to join Louisville City FC," Hackworth said in a statement posted on LouCity.com. "It is an opportunity to join one of the most prominent clubs in this country and work with a fantastic group of people who are like-minded in their approach to achieving success in every area we can."

According to the team's website, Hackworth had been in charge of the U.S. U-17 Men's National Team since 2015.
