JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- Xscape Theatres plans a 12-screen movie theater off Interstate 265 in Jeffersonville.

The movie theater is planned for the Bridgepointe Commons development in the works for the northeast quadrant of I-265 and Highway 62, according to Chance Ragains, managing director and CEO of Patoka Capital, the New Albany family office that owns the 7-theater Xscape chain.

Ragains said the theater is tentatively planned to open in late 2019, with construction slated to begin next spring.

Bridgepointe Commons will also include restaurants, hotels, an assisted living center and a medical campus, according to plans first unveiled in 2016.

Xscape Theaters also owns the Blankenbaker 16 theater in Louisville.

Jeffersonville planning officials approved the Xscape development on Tuesday, according to the News and Tribune.
