LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The University of Louisville football opens its season against defending national champion Alabama on Sept. 1 in Orlando, Florida.

On Thursday, Coach Bobby Petrino held his first news conference of the new season.

Petrino says his players have been working hard all summer, and are in top condition.

A couple of players also spoke during Thursday's news conference.

The Cardinal team returns to the newly renovated Cardinal Stadium for its first home game on Sept. 8, taking on Indiana State.

This year's team returns 15 starters from last year's team that posted an 8-5 record, including going 4-4 to tie for third in the Atlantic.

Louisville capped the year with a bowl game for the eighth-consecutive season.
