WWII veteran celebrates 95th birthday with friends and family in Louisville
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky Lt. Gov. Jenean Hampton helped to make a Louisville veteran's 95th birthday a little more special Thursday.
Arnold Harbolt got to visit with Hampton along with friends and family. Harbolt was born in 1923, joined the Navy in the 1940s and served as a Pacific police sailor through World War II.
After the war, he went on to have a family of six children.
"I was just hoping he could go home tonight and put his head on his pillow and have good memories of so many people coming up and shaking his hand and telling him happy birthday," said Martin Harbolt, Arnold's son.
"It makes me prouder every day when I see the country going in the right direction," Arnold Harbolt added.
The party was held at the Elks Lodge on Klondike Lane.
