LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An Elizabethtown man accused of sodomizing an 8-year-old boy allegedly told officers that it was an accident and he thought the boy was his girlfriend.

According to an arrest report, the incident took place sometime between June 22 and 23.

Kentucky State Police say they received a complaint that 24-year-old Ernest Wilson III had fondled an 8-year-old boy. The child allegedly told officers that Wilson had sodomized him.

When confronted with the allegations, Wilson allegedly told police that he had "accidentally" engaged in a sex act with the boy, claiming that he was asleep and had mistaken the boy for his girlfriend.

Wilson was arrested and charged with first-degree sodomy of a victim under 12 years of age.

He is currently being held in the Hardin County Detention Center.
