LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Nearly six months after a man was shot in the back of the head, police have arrested the man they say pulled the trigger.

The shooting took place on Feb. 8, as 36-year-old Nelson Lopez and his girlfriend were arriving at their Okolona home on Bluebell Drive. According to Louisville Metro Police, they saw a man and a woman leaving the side of their house.

That's when police say 49-year-old Duane Eades and possibly other accomplices got into a car and began chasing Lopez and his girlfriend, firing shots at them. Lopez was shot in the back of the head and taken to the hospital where he died more than a week later.

According to arrest reports, police were able to gather interviews and testimonies that led them to believe that Eades was the one responsible for killing Lopez. He's charged with murder, wanton endangerment and tampering with physical evidence.

He faced Jefferson District Judge Jennifer Wilcox Tuesday morning.

"Given the serious nature of the allegations here, coupled with your criminal history, the court does find a $500,000 bond is appropriate, so that will be the order of the court at this time," Judge Wilcox said.

Along with the $500,000 bond, Eades signed a no-contact order against Lopez's family. He's scheduled to be back in court on Aug. 17.
