LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- One person has been critically injured after a house fire in south Louisville.

Officials with the Louisville Division of Fire say crews responded Monday around 7:20 p.m. to a home in the 4500 block of Janice Way, not far from the area of Gagel Avenue and Dixie Highway.

When firefighters arrived at the home, they found light smoke coming from the back of the residence. Firefighters entered the home and found the victim, while also working to put out the fire.

It took a total of 26 firefighters 12 minutes to get the fire under control.

No firefighters were hurt.

Officials say the person rescued from the fire was taken to University Hospital with critical injuries.

Metro Arson officials are investigating what caused the fire.
