HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man from New Albany, Indiana, has died in an apartment fire that happened in Hopkinsville.

Kentucky State Police say crews were called to the Woodland Heights Apartments on Tuesday just after 4 a.m.

When first responders arrived, they found 25-year-old David Keys, of New Albany, and a 22-year-old woman inside the apartment.

Police say Keys was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy revealed that he died from smoke inhalation.

The woman was flown by helicopter to the Vanderbilt Medical Center, where she is in critical condition.
