LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A multimillion-dollar house went up in flames in Prospect on Monday.

It took three fire departments to battle the fire in the 14000 block of Reserve Cove Drive off South Rose Island Road.

The owner, John Boc, who stood on the street and watched the home burn, said he received a phone alert while he was at a grocery store.

There is no confirmation of what started the fire, but Boc and firefighters question whether the fire was started by a lightning strike. There were storms in the area before the fire started.

The 16,000-square foot-house has six bedrooms and ten bathrooms and was listed for sale for $3,495,000.

The North Oldham Fire Department initially responded to the fire and was assisted by the Harrods Creek and Worthington Fire Departments. In all, 40 firefighters worked the scene throughout the day. Harrods Creek Fire Chief Kevin Tyler called the house a "total loss."

There are no reports of any injuries.
