ADAIR COUNTY, Ky. (WDRB) -- An Adair County man was killed in a single-vehicle crash that happened on Sunday morning.

Kentucky State Police say it happened around 9:30 a.m. on Fairplay Road, which is about one mile south of Columbia.

Officials say 85-year-old Eldridge Hoover, of Columbia, was driving a 2005 Nissan truck south along Fairplay Road when he went off the right shoulder of the road, overcorrected and flipped, before hitting a utility pole. The vehicle came to a rest in a creek.

Hoover was pronounced dead at the scene by the Adair County coroner. Authorities say he was wearing a seatbelt.
