Police say Shepherdsville woman lied about attempted abduction at Walmart
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say a woman who claimed someone tried to abduct her child from a Louisville area Walmart lied about it.
Emily Lyons, 31, of Shepherdsville, is accused of lying when she reported the attempted abduction Saturday at the Walmart store located at 11901 Standiford Plaza Drive, near Hillview.
Police say Lyons posted about the false abduction attempt on Facebook. The post was shared thousands of times, and police say it caused the public to worry needlessly.
After reviewing surveillance video, investigators found no evidence to back up her story. According to court documents, Lyons admitted it never happened after police reviewed the footage with her.
Police warned the public in a Facebook post about spreading false stories on social media.
Lyons has not been arrested, but is charged with filing a false police report. She is due in court in October.
