LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- LMPD has made an arrest in the death of a 34-year-old woman found Wednesday outside a home in Fairdale.

Robert Lee Allen Hutchinson Jr., 35, was arrested without incident Thursday. LMPD Spokeswoman Alicia Smiley said officers who responded to the 800 block of Cheri Way just off National Turnpike in Fairdale entered a home and noticed a bedroom was covered with blood. In the driveway, they found 34-year-old Megan Leigh Hough stuffed inside a Hometown Hauling trashcan, Smiley said.

"I can't even wrap my brain around it still right now," said Jennifer Breedlove, Hough's friend.

Breedlove is still having trouble coping with what happened to her friend and the circumstances surrounding the case.

"I just can't wrap my brain around how someone could do that to another human being," she said.

Officers tracked Hutchinson down and interviewed him, during which he claimed to have blacked out after entering the home alone with Hough. Smiley said Hutchinson told officers he woke up in a nearby forest.

Hough died of blunt force trauma at 3:42 p.m. Wednesday, the Jefferson County Coroner's Office said Thursday.

According to friends and the victim's own Facebook post, Hutchinson and Hough got engaged last month, but Breedlove was still not surprised to learn who police have in custody.

"As soon as I heard something happened to her, I knew who did it," she said.

Smiley said Hutchinson told family members he had "done something wrong and was sorry." When officers found Hutchinson, Smiley said he had injuries on his hands "consistent with striking something."

He is charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence. On Friday morning, Hutchinson made his first court appearance. The judge appointed a public defender and set bond at $1 million.
