LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man accused of killing a woman and stuffing her body into a trash can outside a Fairdale home earlier this week was in court Friday.

Robert Hutchinson Jr., 35, is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections on a $1 million cash bond.

Hutchinson is charged with murder and tampering with evidence in the death of 34-year-old Meghan Hough. According to court documents, LMPD officers responded to a home on Cheri Way in Fairdale on Sept. 12 for a "corpse investigation."

Once inside, officers found a bedroom covered with blood. As they continued investigating, officers found 34-year-old Meghan Hough stuffed inside a trash can in the home's driveway.

During questioning, police say Hutchinson told investigators he remembers driving to the home with Hough from their apartment. He says he blacked out after they went inside and woke up in a nearby forest.

According to the arrest report, Hough suffered blunt force trauma that caused her death before she was put into the trash can. Police say Hutchinson has injuries to his hands "consistent with striking something."

Witnesses say they saw Hutchinson leaving the home on Cheri Way before Hough's body was found. Hough's family members say he told them "he had done something wrong and was sorry."

The judge set Hutchinson's bond at $1 million and appointed a public defender.
