LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two southern Indiana behavioral health centers announced a merger on Monday.

According to a news release, LifeSpring Health Systems and Southern Hills Counseling Center have merged into one organization, which will retain the Health Systems name.

The merger became effective on Monday.

No staff or programs were changed as a result of the merger, according to the news release. As a newly combined entity, the two non-profits hope to serve 11 southern Indiana counties.

"We have identified many ways that we can more effectively and efficiently serve southern Indiana residents by working together," said Dr. Terry Stawar, the chief executive of LifeSpring, in a statement. "Individuals from Madison to Rockport will now be able to receive comprehensive care all within one organization. We look forward to carrying on the longstanding tradition of providing high-quality clinical services Southern Hills started nearly 50 years ago."
