LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A popular Louisville art store is celebrating 40 years under the same ownership.

Preston Arts Center started in New Albany nearly 80 years ago and has been located in the Gardiner Lane shopping center on Bardstown Road in Louisville for the past two decades.

The center's website says it's staffed with practicing artists with degrees.

Although businesses like Rite Aid and Rocky's Pizza have closed around it, the Preston Arts Center remains steady. The owners, who are husband and wife, say the secret is family and staying active in the community.

"We know how each other think and work ... so there's someone who will be here," co-owner Kathy Brennan said.

The Brennan's son, Andrew, is preparing to take over Preston Arts Center as a third-generation owner.
