LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Hundreds of people converged on Bowman Field to celebrate Louisville's aviation history.

The third annual Aviation and Military Heritage Festival calls the historic airport home. It features rare vintage aircraft and warplanes from all over the country.

More than 30 planes are on display this year, and the festival wants families to stop by to get up close and personal with them.

"We want you to come inside the fences and walk around, touch the planes. We have things for kids over here. We've got a beer garden and a stage for entertainment for the families," said festival director Pat MacDonald.

Exhibits include memorabilia from World War I to Afghanistan. There are also opportunities to take flights in some of the historic planes for a fee.

The festival continues Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, CLICK HERE.
