Authorities: 2 dead after train hits vehicle in Indiana
EDINBURGH, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say a train collided with a vehicle at a railroad crossing in central Indiana, killing two people and seriously injuring a third.
The (Columbus) Republic reports the collision happened late Monday in Bartholomew County near Edinburgh and Indiana State Police are involved in the investigation. The county sheriff's department says the injured person was taken by helicopter to a hospital for treatment.
WXIN-TV reports the two people who died and the other injured person all were in the vehicle. It wasn't immediately known why the vehicle was on the train tracks.
The scene of the crash is about 30 miles (48 kilometers) southeast of Indianapolis.
