I want to take a moment to discuss the real purpose of "Point of View."
First, it doesn't exist to push a particular political agenda. Over the years I've criticized Democrats and Republicans, and I've also praised members of both parties when I thought they deserved it.
If there is an overriding principle that guides me, I like to think it's common sense. I tend to favor action over inaction. Innovative solutions to problems instead of the same old approaches. And ethical behavior over using legal technicalities to justify unethical behavior.
But I think the most important component of "Point of View" is you. My opinions shouldn't be one-way monologues. They should spark lively dialogues.
What's really exciting is when someone feels strongly enough about an issue to come on our air and tape their own "Point of View" - and I wish that would happen a lot more.
I know there are many of you out there with opinions you wish someone would express. Well, that someone can be you.
It just takes about a half-hour of your time and the guts to stand before a camera and say what you think. And all you have to do is e-mail us at pointofview@fox41.com, and we'll work with you to make it happen.
I know we always say that at the end of every "Point of View." But I just wanted to make sure you know we mean it.
I'm Bill Lamb, and that's my...Point of View.
