Frankfort Follies (4/15/08)

I don't know what's more outrageous - the pathetic job Kentucky's lawmakers did in the recent legislative session, or the fact that they'll be bragging about their supposed accomplishments when the next election rolls around.

These people were so busy playing an endless game of politics, they failed to do anything of substance to better our economy, our education system, our infrastructure or our reputation.

They not only didn't do their jobs. They went out of their way to make it as difficult as possible for anyone else to do theirs, either.

This state has big problems. But while practically all our representatives were experts at saying "no" to any solution proposed by a political rival, they were mute when it came to offering worthwhile alternatives. And the final result was a laughable litany of trivial bills that'll accomplish nothing other than keep us securely lodged right next to Mississippi at the bottom of virtually every national ranking.

Each Kentucky taxpayer pays big money to finance these bi-annual follies. And lately, we're getting exactly nothing in return.

If you trusted anyone to do a service for you and they were this inept, you'd fire them immediately and find someone who could handle the job.

That's what needs to happen to this whole bunch the next time we're choosing our leaders.

What do you think? Call and let us know.

I'm Bill Lamb, and that's my...Point of View.
