Dozens of students taken to hospital after buses collide

A field trip to a ballpark ended with dozens of students taken to the hospital after one school bus crashed into another.

It happened just after ten Monday morning on Interstate 65 near Crittenden Drive.  The students from Nelson county and Fort Knox were on their way to a Bats game at Slugger Field.

Police say a blue vehicle pulled out of the emergency lane, causing a pickup truck to swerve.  The school bus slowed down to avoid the pickup and was rear-ended by another bus.

Neal Richmond, Director of EMS, says 43 students ended up going to the hospital as a precaution after they complained of back or neck pain.

EMS checked 59 other students on the scene, but they were not taken to the hospital.
