Because of the city budget crunch, the Parks Department has also been forced to permanently close four swimming pools, and that's upset some area residents.

The Breslin Park Pool in the Irish Hills neighborhood is one of those being forced to close.  Local restaurant owner Tom O'Shea is leading a fundraising effort to help re-open the pool.

O'Shea's and its sister restaurant Flannigan's are donating the proceeds every Monday to help save the pool.  Tom O'Shea is hoping the fundraising effort will force the city's hand to re-open it:  "I don't see a private operator coming in. I don't see the Neighborhood Association running the pool.  I don't see us running the pool.  I see the possibility that the mayor listens and he sees the support."

The city decided to close five pools in February as part of an effort to trim $550,000 from the city's budget before June 30.
