Indiana guardsman, Ft. Campbell soldier die in Iraq

A National Guardsman from New Albany has been killed in Iraq.  23-year-old Army Specialist Joseph Ford died on Saturday.

The military says he was killed in a vehicle crash that was non-combat related.

Ford was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 152nd Calvary Regiment of the 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.

The military says he had worked at the Indiana National Guard Armory in New Albany for five months before he was activated in December.  He was deployed to Iraq in March.

His wife lives in New Albany.  Funeral arrangements are still being planned.

A Fort Campell soldier has also died in Iraq.  Corporal Jessica Ellis of Bend, Oregon died Sunday when a roadside bomb exploded beside her vehicle.

Corporal Ellis was 24 years old and a member of the 101st Airborne Division.
