Two and a half years ago we got our first glimpse what the Bridges Project will look like. It is a vision for the future of our city that calls for expanding Spaghetti Junction to 23 lanes and further cutting Louisville off from the Ohio River. Officials claim this is a "community consensus" and cannot be changed. But the word from Frankfort is clear. There is not enough money and something has to change. Or nothing will get done.
8664 is a better vision for the future. It will complete the East-end Bridge as quickly as possible to finally connect our entire region. It will fix Spaghetti Junction, improving access to and from downtown. It will replace the elevated freeway on our waterfront with a parkway to restore the City's connection to the Ohio River.
8664 will cost half as much. Saving taxpayers approximately $2 Billion. It can be completed twice as fast. And it will lead to greater economic growth.
