We are all concerned about location of our proposed arena, or should be. However, I feel too many simply do nothing and remain silent and let others "take care of it."
I feel strongly about its location and I think it should be downtown so that we may continue the huge investments made by our local residents and the out-of-town investors who have invigorated downtown as we know it today.
We must continue this vigorous growth, and in this vision we need to thoroughly analyze the Louisville Water Company site to be sure it does or does not qualify as the site, especially considering it probably could be built for about half of the proposed LG&E site construction cost.
I'm in favor of helping all of downtown Louisville, and if the Water Company site were selected, that would take downtown Louisville three blocks south to Muhammad Ali Boulevard -- a mere three blocks from Broadway. What a dynamic downtown this would be, stretching from Main Street to Broadway, and from Brook Street to Ninth Street.
Lastly -- and probably most important -- starting the move downtown south to Broadway would offer many investment opportunities for years to come.
Let's do a thorough analysis of the Water Company site. We owe it to our fellow citizens.
