I'm tired of talking about the new arena, because this should be decided by now, but suddenly it's in real jeopardy.
The mayor and governor are all for it. The University of Louisville president, athletic director and board of trustees are solidly behind it. Most business leaders are overwhelmingly in favor of it. Enough state leaders outside of Louisville are ready to approve it. And all these parties want it on the river.
All we need for our Louisville delegation to do is not to screw it up. But this totally inept bunch, led by the self-serving Larry Clark and Joni Jenkins are afraid if they support something that wasn't their idea it makes them weak - or if they oppose it they can trade their support for more power. If the Louisville delegation doesn't get their act together quickly, the rest of the state legislators will just lose interest and another great opportunity for Louisville will die.
Folks, you've got to do something here. You have got to call Larry Clark and the other obstructionists and demand they stop trying to block this arena. Their names and phone numbers are on our website at Fox 41.com. Call them and tell them to start putting Louisville ahead of themselves and support the arena on the river!
I'm Bill Lamb and that's my point of view.
