Fox 41's General Manager, Bill Lamb, and other media personalities have resorted to bad-mouthing some of our local state representatives regarding the location of the new arena. And for what? Exhibiting fiscal prudence - a trait too often lacking in elected officials
They are referring to these officials as self-serving obstructionists. I disagree. I stand here today to salute Larry Clark, Joni Jenkins and all the state house members who had the courage to insist that common sense must prevail in making this decision.
I ask that all you critics stop for a moment and ask yourselves a couple of questions:
If, and very possibly when, the rose-colored projections for the arena fail to materialize, who will be left holding the bill? I bet I know the answer to that question.
If you and you alone had to make the decision on the location and you and you alone had to pay for the arena with your own money, which site would you choose? I'm pretty sure I know the answer to that one, too.
So, like Mr. Lamb, I, too, encourage you to contact the representatives he calls obstructionists, not to berate them as he suggests, but to thank them for being good custodians of our tax dollars.
I'm Tom Recktenwald and that's my...Point of View.
