Gov. Beshear may call special session next month

Kentucky's governor says he may call a special session next month.

It's to pass changes to the state pension system if lawmakers can reach an agreement.  Thursday morning, Beshear was meeting with House and Senate leaders to discuss his proposal.

It calls for raising the retirement age for future state employees.  It also requires new employees to contribute 1% of their salaries to health insurance.

The governor says the pension overhaul would save taxpayers $500 million annually.  And he says it would also save city and county governments and school districts at least $50 million immediately.
