It's a fine day for some more darts and laurels.
First a laurel to Cornelius "Buddy" Demling, a long time PGA pro, golf trick shot artist and good citizen of Louisville. Buddy was recently voted by his peers into the Kentucky PGA Hall of Fame. Please join me in congratulating Buddy. It couldn't happen to a nicer, more deserving guy.
Another laurel to the Louisville Orchestra for storming back to life this past weekend with the Fanfara Festival. The first two performances of the season on Thursday and Saturday nights were sold out. Congratulations to board President Joe Pusateri, CEO Brad Broeker, and all the musicians for this magnificent resurgence. With Olivia Newton-John and The Beach Boys among those coming to the Pops this season, I suspect this weekend's success in only the beginning.
Finally, a dart to those calling for the Louisville Police to stop using tasers following a man's death last week. First, tasers are far, far safer than being shot with a gun. You can't argue with that. Second, if you are so out of control that you need to be tasered, YOU are responsible for what happens next. It's time we stop blaming the police for the result of our own actions and start taking more personal responsibility.
