Viewer Response: The City Budget - Painful, But Necessary (6/10/08)

There's been a lot of complaining about the many cutbacks in the city's recently announced budget.

But just imagine the uproar if Mayor Abramson had instead announced a bunch of new city taxes to balance the budget. Or cut police and fire protection.

There are still some questionable expenditures - such as the many take-home cars for city employees -- but for the most part, the mayor deserves praise, not criticism, for making hard choices.
