IU to face infractions committee Friday

Indiana University is going on the defense as it faces the NCAA.  School officials are set to go before the infractions committee in Seattle Friday over alleged rules violations by former basketball coach Kelvin Sampson.

He's accused of providing false information to investigators about 100 improper calls and violating NCAA recruiting restrictions.

IU will try to avoid penalties beyond the scholarship and recruiting restrictions it imposed on itself when the allegations came to light last year.

The NCAA is not expected to make its decision until at least late July.
