Another child comes forward in Mt. Washington sexual abuse case

Another child has come forward in a sexual abuse case involving a Mount Washington woman. So far two teenage boys have accused the woman of molesting them.

The suspect is Stephanie Evans a Mt. Washington baseball league worker and before Friday a trusted member of the community.

Friday night 35 year old Stephanie Evans is charged with two counts of sodomy and one count of sexual abuse.

"Sheila", Alleged Victim's Relative says, "This has upset the whole community." The lady who only wants to be known as Sheila.

"Shelia" says, "The perpetrator was actually very close to these children." Sheila says one of the alleged victim's is her relative and is devastated. "Sheila" tells FOX 41, "The kids are petrified right now."

For years, Evans has worked with Mt. Washington's youth baseball and softball teams.

"Sheila" says, "The families of these victims trusted her wholeheartedly, they trusted her as they would trust their very best friend."

But recently a teenager came forward and told police Evans violated that trust and molested two of his team members.

Officer Mike O'Donnell, Mt. Washington Police says, "The first occurrence is alleged to have happened in her home and the second occurrence occurred while in a vehicle in her subdivision.

Evans manages the concession stands at Mt. Washington baseball games. Officer O'Donnell says, "That was where she was at the time that the warrants were signed."

That's where police arrested her on Wednesday after interviewing the alleged victims who are 13 and 14 years old.

Officer O'Donnell says, "She was arrested while there were events going on at the ballpark." Scott Johnson, Mt. Washington youth baseball says, "As a league we're not accusing her of anything."

Scott Johnson is president of the Mt. Washington youth baseball league and says all of the adults including Evans have had background checks.

Johnson says, "If anything comes up on a felony charge or even a pending felony charge we handle it properly."

And that's another reason the victims and their families are still dealing with a lot of emotions.

"Sheila" says, "They actually have went through a period of shock of denial um hatred just depression."

Friday night, Stephanie Evans is in the Bullitt County Detention center being held on a $10,000 full cash bond.
