Blood drive held in fallen officer's memory

The family of a fallen Floyd county officer hopes the community will give the gift of life Wednesday on the one-year anniversary of his death.

Officers Joel White and Frank Denzinger were gunned down while responding to a call of a teenager fighting with his mother in Georgetown.

Denzinger died; White survived.  15-year-old Tyler Dumstorf killed himself after shooting the deputies.

Because of severe hip and leg injuries, White can no longer be a patrolman, so he became the department's first evidence technician.

The Red Cross will hold a blood drive Wednesday in Frank Denzinger's memory at Greenville Elementary School, at 7025 Cross Street from 2 to 7 p.m.
