International bank scam strikes Indiana residents

More than 100 people in Indiana are trying to get their money back after it's stolen from their bank accounts.

An international bank scam hit banks and credit unions around South Bend, Indiana.

Police have received dozens of reports from people who've found mysterious withdrawals from their accounts, most of them taking place overseas.

They say some very sophisticated hackers have gotten into the banks across the country, and they believe they've been at it for some time.

Jim Seitz of 1st Source Bank says, "There's no question that we're seeing transactions coming out of Ukraine, out of Russia, out of Czechoslovakia, and other financial institutions are seeing the same things -- so as you piece it together, there's obviously some evidence to point you in that direction."

Most withdrawals were less than $200, but at least one person reported losing nearly $4,000.
