Indiana riverboat gambling revenues down

Indiana casinos are feeling the effects of an economic downturn.

Gambling revenues in the state's eleven casinos have declined for the first time in 13 years of riverboat gambling.

The Indiana Gaming Commission says revenues declined during the first five months of the year by about $54 million.

Admission is down nearly 7%.

Industry experts and gamblers say the weak economy, soaring gasoline prices, and job layoffs are keeping people away.
