Candidate Sodrel presents ideas on easing gas prices

With soaring gas prices, politicians are focusing more on what they plan to do to cut costs.

Indiana Republican Congressional candidate Mike Sodrel on Thursday presented his ideas to ease gas prices.

Part of Sodrel's plans include support for offshore drilling and efforts by Senator McCain to offer incentives for research and development of alternative energy.  He says the country needs to develop new sources of energy while also conserving.

Last year, Congress banned new oil exploration because the Senate did not get the sixty votes necessary to pass the the bill and send it to the president.

This was primarily due to Democratic opposition, and their concerns about its harmful effects on the environment.

Sodrel is running against incumbent Baron Hill in the fall.
