Study suggests some drug users switch from meth to cocaine

Could anti-meth laws be driving up use of cocaine and other drugs?  That's what a new three-state study is suggesting.

Counties in Kentucky, Ohio, and Arkansas were part of the $6.1 million study that looked at the latest laws intended to decrease the number of people making and using methamphetamines.

The results were not conclusive, but did show concern that the anti-meth laws are having unwanted side effects.

Researchers are careful not to say that the law causes people to use cocaine, but that the study shows the potential for people to be switching from one drug to another.
