$12,500 donated to Metro Parks for free pool admission for children

Children of Louisville should get their sunblock lotion ready, because now, they have the option of spending all summer swimming for free.

That's thanks to businessman Gus Goldsmith.  He donated 12,500 dollars to the Louisville Metro Parks Foundation.  The money will allow children ages 17 and under to swim at no cost in the city's outdoor public pools.

Rev. Gerome Sutton, says now children don't have to worry about paying $1.50 to get into pools.  He says this can get them off corners and into the pool.

In addition to the Algonquin Park Pool, Fairdale Pool in Nelson Hornbeck Park, Norton Pool in Camp Taylor Park, and Sun Valley ParkPpool are also open to kids for no charge.

The free admission runs from July 4 through August 9.
