Alcohol Suspected in Fatal Early Morning Crash

Metro police are investigating a fatal two-car accident.

It happened just after 4 a.m. Friday at Taylorsville Road and Chenoweth Run.

Metro Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley tells Fox 41 that the driver of a Ford explorer allegedly ran a red light and hit a Mitsubishi.

The driver of the Explorer was dead at the scene.

One passenger in the Explorer was trapped under the wreckage and taken by medical helicopter to University hospital.

A second passenger in the Explorer and the driver of the Mitsubishi were also transported to the hospital.

Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Taylorsville Road is shutdown in both directions, as the investigation continues.
