Road crews work to improve State Road 62 in Charlestown, IN

Road crews are working to improve what has been a dangerous stretch of road in southern Indiana.  State Road 62 in Charlestown has had several fatal accidents in recent years.

Road crews have been on Highway 62 for several months, and some neighbors say they are frustrated, but looking forward to the improvements.

Connie Allen says she's getting tired of the dirt and the mud, and often have trouble getting to their homes.

The big advantage of the road work is expected to be left turn lanes.  There have been several fatal accidents in the area, and the Indiana Department of Transportation hopes the improvements will make things safer.

Crews hope to have the work finished by the first week of September.
