Yarmuth helps girl with fatal disease

After some major stumbling blocks, there may be good news for a Bullitt County girl in need of medical treatment in china.

Hailey Goranflo has Batten Disease, a fatal neurodegenerative disease that causes seizures and loss of muscle control.

The families trip to china for stem cell implants came to an end in Vancouver. That's because airline officials said the little girl was too ill to fly. But now, Congressman John Yarmuth's office has stepped in, helping with a waiver. A nurse has volunteered her services.

If all goes well, Hailey and her mother Miranda will take a direct flight from Chicago to China in a couple of days. Hailey is still being treated at Kosair Children's Hospital.
